FRONT-END MINING

APII works at the front-end of the mine's development cycle with the people directly affected -- we provide livelihood program planning through analysis of value chains, market opportunities and ecological conditions; resettlement support through formal documentation of community consultations, logistics management of field-based community events and creation of communication materials in local dialect. We are fully aware of and support the Free and Prior Informed Consent requirements and procedures established by the National Commission for Indigenous Peoples.

ECONOMIC GROWTH AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT

APII provides livelihood, economic growth planning and program implementation services. We have worked with producers and their associations to improve their production capacity as well as with market makers and buyers to source locally produced products. We consider value chains and address constraints therein as the focus of our efforts to increase transactions between sellers and buyers. Working in rural environments we seek to build relationships between growers, their associations and buyers to establish contract growing opportunities and market linkages. We've also designed and established workforce preparation programs in collaboration with employers and local Universities.

ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES

APII provides infrastructure planning and detailed engineering services for transport systems such as roads, urban rail, seaport, and airports as well as services related to the planning and construction of community infrastructure in partnership with local government units and donors. We have managed construction of over 800 such infrastructure facilities in the conflict affected areas of Mindanao to stimulate economic growth. We were early pioneers in development of the nation's BOT program with our SLEX study leading to the nation's first BOT investment, and follow-up assignments for both DOTC and LRTA leading to expansion of the nation's transport system. A team of seven APII engineers are currently working on L1/L2 capacity expansion programs.

APPLIED PLANNING

APII's approach to master planning is to balance the various objectives of a project by providing alternative development strategies. Using various criteria including inputs from our clients and other stakeholders in the project we prepare a technically feasible, financially viable, and socially and environmentally sound master plan. The firm recently completed Master Planning assignments for the Freeport Authority of Bataan for their 1,600 ha mixed-use site and San Miguel Corporation's Trans-Aire Development Holdings Corporation for their Caticlan Airport site, the first privatized airport in the country.
